BROOMFIELD HOUSING ALLIANCE (BHA)
Created in 2022, BHA is the independent Housing Authority of the City and County of Broomfield.
VISION | No resident of Broomfield will have their ability to thrive diminished by a lack of access to safe and affordable housing.
MISSION | Partnering to create abundant, attainable, inclusive, and sustainable housing that gives all residents of Broomfield an opportunity to thrive.
BHA HISTORY
The City and County of Broomfield established a separate, or independent, Housing Authority to increase housing options for its residents. This action followed significant community conversation and research indicating this approach would strengthen and leverage resources and efforts for the benefit of the community. In October 2021, the City Council voted to create the Housing Authority with a mission to leverage external private and public housing financial resources to expand the number of attainable housing units. The Housing Authority will primarily focus on efforts to serve very-low and low-income residents; and may include acquisition of land for future housing, repurposing of buildings, and creating or expanding partnerships. As a separate entity, the Housing Authority will be able to rapidly respond to housing market conditions and potential opportunities.
WHO IS BHA?
BHA is led by an appointed Board of Commissioners who determine the strategic and program direction of the organization. The BHA Commissioners and staff work in collaboration with the many federal, state and local private, nonprofit and government entities in pursuit of shared outcomes and impacts, including Broomfield’s Economic Vitality (Housing) and Human Services departments.
