About
Broomfield Housing Alliance
The Housing Authority of the City and County of Broomfield, Colorado
WHAT WE DO
Housing is about far more than buildings.
It is about helping families remain in the community they love, enabling older adults to age with dignity, supporting people with disabilities to live independently, giving workers the opportunity to live near their jobs, and creating stronger neighborhoods where businesses and residents can flourish.
As Broomfield's housing authority, BHA works across the entire housing continuum to make that possible.
Create Affordable Homes
We partner with nonprofit and private developers to create new affordable housing for families, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. From securing land and financing to guiding projects through development, we help turn community priorities into homes.
Preserve Affordable Housing
Keeping existing affordable homes affordable is one of the smartest investments a community can make. We pursue opportunities to preserve housing, prevent displacement, and protect long-term affordability for future generations.
Provide Housing Assistance
BHA administers Housing Choice Vouchers and connects residents with housing resources, landlord engagement, referrals, and supportive services that promote long-term housing stability.
Lead Community Housing Solutions
Housing challenges cannot be solved by one organization alone. We convene partners, advocate for innovative solutions, coordinate regional efforts, and help align resources to create lasting community impact.
How We Do It

Partnership First
Everything we accomplish begins with partnership. We bring together local government, nonprofit organizations, developers, financial institutions, community organizations, and residents to solve housing challenges collaboratively. Every successful housing project is the result of many organizations working toward one shared goal.
Steward Public Resources
As a public housing authority, BHA has specialized statutory authorities and financing tools that allow us to maximize the value of community investment. We strategically combine local funding with state, federal, philanthropic, and private investment to deliver affordable housing that creates lasting public benefit.
Innovate
Housing challenges continue to evolve, and so do we. BHA embraces creative financing, innovative partnerships, new development models, and emerging opportunities that help bring more affordable housing to Broomfield. Innovation allows us to accomplish more with every public dollar invested.

OUR HISTORY
When Broomfield became a county in 2001, the City Council established a Housing Authority, with council members serving as its commissioners.
As housing costs rose, Broomfield formed the Housing Advisory Committee (HAC) in 2016 to assess local housing challenges. Comprised of community leaders, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits, the HAC recommended a Housing Needs Assessment which led to the call for an independent Housing Authority Board to enhance engagement and investment.
Following research, community input, and a public hearing, City Council approved the board’s creation in October 2021. The appointed commissioners launched the Broomfield Housing Authority on January 1, 2022. In mid-2022, the board adopted the trade name Broomfield Housing Alliance to emphasize collaboration with partner agencies, the community and residents in expanding housing opportunities.
